Welcome to the official Internet home of KUPA

Photgraph of the KUPA president speaking to a group of local residentsKUPA has a vision to restore Ho`okena, the beach, the park and the community to it’s full potential as a self-sustaining island community recourse with low impact to the `Aina.  A vision more than 40 years old once again is in the forefront and KUPA is committed to see it happen.

Unlike the vision of the past, KUPA’s vision is united, focusing on others, rather than the interests of one investor or developer.  KUPA envisions the creation of a community-run and supported program by giving entrepreneurship assistance to the local residents, creating a long-term, self-sustaining community, county and state resource.

KUPA has a low-impact, Hawaiian-centered vision for this project with the construction of small Hawaiian-style huts built with local materials.  These huts will be located so as to not affect the natural beauty of the landscape but rather enhance the feeling of a Hawaiian community.  The huts will be used for local venders to promote locally made goods and products.

The vision is unity.  Uniting the community within itself, with others, with government, schools and visitors to create a model for future projects.  Putting the care and well-being of our `Aina back into the hands of the people.  To protect, enrich, and preserve our precious natural resource, Our `Aina.
